Kissing Steel Cyborg Seduction Volume 2 Laurann Dohner Books Reviews
- This is my same comment on
Another great read in the cyborg seduction series. This is book 2 in the series, and I couldn't put it down. I love me some sexy cyborgs!
Rena is immediately drawn to Steel because his past. His history with romance reminds her of her own broken relationship with her husband. Yes, Rena is married when she meets Steel. This fact did bother me at first, but after learning her history, as a reader you hope that she can find something better with Steel.
As to the first time Steel and Rena have sex, you either will love or hate it. Some may consider it forced, while others will see it as more forced-to-accept. Rena will do anything to be protected by Steel, even if it means showing him everything she has to offer. I found the first time steamy and sizzling. Later, you learn that Steel could have prevented any feeling from sex.
With this book, keep in mind that cyborgs have a very different way of thinking they are more technical and mechanical in their beliefs and customs. They aren't your full-force-alpha, but more like survivalist-to-the-race. Steel sees more cons than pros in possessing Rena, and really wants to establish a family unit to breed-as is expected of his people.
Although Steel falls for Rena, he thinks letting her go will be best for their situation, but of course he finds himself unable to take the separation for long. We discover that there is a happy ending for Steel and Rena when he finds out she is in trouble. Everything that was keeping them apart changes when Rena discovers a family member is married to two council members.
This book gets 5 stars because it shows the evolution of two different characters, coming from two different sides of the spectrum, and finding that they can love with one another.
I would recommend this series to anyone. You will either love it, or hate it. I find it best to read the stories in order, but you don't really need to know the first to read this one. Dohner recaps everything in the beginning, so you know what happened previously.
I am currently re-reading this series. I have been a big fan of Laurann Dohner for years. If you haven't read her books, you need must. Buy them. I would start with the New Species Series first. You will thank me later. ) - Second book in the Cyborg Series
I loved the fire of Rena, she wasn't one just to willing submit to her situation. She wants to escape her loveless marriage and this mission she is on will allow her to do that. Unfortunately, she didn't expect to encounter Cyborgs. She is then "gifted" to Steel. Steel wants a cyborg woman and doesn't want this human at all. He wants to get rid of her as soon as he can. When Steel wakes up he finds himself tied to the bed and Rena seducing him. Unfortunately, this leads Rena down a path that isn't a pleasant one. Not only does Rena have to convince Steel she is the best woman for him, she has to fight off other crazy female cyborgs. Will Steel finally see things her way? Will Rena leave one loveless marriage where she was nothing but property to being the same thing to Steel?
Loved this story and boy was it steamy. When Rena tied Steel up, I was rooting her on for taking what she wanted. I love a strong character and Rena was so likable. Steel seemed clueless at times but then he was just trying to figure out Rena and what made her tick. I loved how everything in the book came together. I am a sucker for a good story and this was a great one. WELL DONE!!! - Well, damn. It seems like everyone is getting taken advantage of in this series. Flint finds himself in ownership of Rena. Something he is adamantly against. He plans on selling her in the morning to be rid of her. He's dead set on his life plan and that does not include a complicated, small, breakable, human.
I have got to give Rena some props for trying as hard as she did. After being hurt and reject as much I'm not sure I would have had to courage to keep going. She was a tough girl and I enjoyed her journey.
Things seemed pretty impossible for them towards the ending but by some convenient miracle they were able to work out their issues. It almost seemed a little too convenient.
I enjoyed watching Rena's struggles and small victories. I enjoyed it enough to want more in the series to see how it all plays out for the rest of them. - This is such a great book, that I look forward to going back and reading this story again and again, and now I am impatient to read the rest of the books in this series by this author. Dohner writes Hot, Hot, Hot, love scenes, a well written, creative and intriguing story about fugitive cyborgs and outer space. Then she throws into the mix, inventive, vivid characters, and some, make your pulse race, seriously sexy leading men. Dohner's brilliance is woven into all that goodness to make up this fantastic mystery/sci-fi story and makes this series a "must-have"!!!! I didn't want to set it down....seriously. I was falling asleep over this book and the others in the series, in the early hours of many a morning!! Lol
- I think the stories are all pretty decent in this series but it doesn't really feel like a series. You can really read any of these as stand alone books. My main complaints are 1) there is very little follow up on previous charachters when reading the whole series. That is one of the reason I love series is so I can check in with charachters I already know and see how the relationships etc are progressing. There is mention of previous names but no real follow up on couples. 2) This series has a main point of breeding but none of the (female) charachters ever get pregnant. I personally enjoy adding a family dynamic in romances that are specifically breeding oriented - even if just to say that the female is pregnant and not much else. I have one more book (Redeeming Zorus) to go but am not holding out any hope for those things I feel are missing. I think the concept is great but the books could have been developed a bit more. It seems she almost gets there but not quite, just a bit lacking. I really don't think it would take much to pull it all together and making the series great.
