"I loved this book! And very glad the next book is with the same people! The first part of the book is with Charlie helping a teenage girl who wants to be emancipated. The last part is the opposite. It was kind of refreshing for a book not to end the way most do with the good guys as the "winners" . Can't wait for the next one to come out next month."

Last Breath Karin Slaughter Books Reviews
- Last Breath is a prequel to The Good Daughter, a stand-alone (?) novel by American author, Karin Slaughter. Lawyer Charlotte Quinn wasn't planning to do any more pro bono work she already has a client who owes her two grand. But Florabama Faulkner's appeal for help strikes a chord with Charlie. This girl lost her mother at a young age too, and she has hopes of doing what would make her mother proud going to college. But her guardians are her grandparents, a couple who seem intent on working their way through Flora's trust fund until there's nothing left. Flora wants Charlie to help her achieve legal emancipation. Charlie duly checks what she needs to, and finds that not everything is quite as it has been presented, and no one involved is quite who or what they at first seem.
This prequel, set thirteen years before The Good Daughter, gives the reader some insight into the main character, Charlie Quinn. It also introduces secondary characters Charlie’s husband, prosecution lawyer Ben Bernard (sigh), her dad, notorious defense attourney Rusty Quinn, his secretary Lenore, Pikeville cops and the DA. Fast paced with plenty of twists, this is an excellent teaser that will have readers impatient for The Good Daughter. - LAST BREATH is the prequel to THE GOOD DAUGHTER, which will be available on on August 8, 2017.
LAST BREATH introduces the reader to Attorney Charlie Quinn. When Charlie was a young teenager, her mother was murdered by people with a grudge against her father .. also an attorney.
Because of her loss, she has made it a personal mission to defend those that have no one else to help. When Flora Faulkner, also a motherless teen, begs for help, Charlie cannot say no.
Flora is in deep, deep, trouble .. far more than Charlies could ever have imagined. And how far will she go for her client ...especially as Flora has secrets.
Karin Slaughter is one of my favorite authors and I'm always looking forward to reading a new book. This is a Single, less than 200 pages, so it's a fast, easy read. The author has packed a lot into these pages. The story line is solid and there's a lot to Charlie. I really look forward to seeing more of her adventures. - I've read everything Karen Slaughter had written. She has never disappointed me. I always loved her Southern Charm. In the Last Breath there is a helpless 15 year old Girl Scout living with drug addicted red neck grandparents after she becomes an orphan. She contacts a local community rights attorney about her
Right to be emancipated from her grandparents whom she claimed were defrauding her and stealing her inheritance. Her lawyer has motherly feelings for the poor girl till her story starts unraveling. Everyone
Seems to want something from her, or does she want
Something from them. I wish the book was longer and didn't leave us on a cliffhanger but am glad to be reading more from Karen Slaughter. - Before even reading the book, I’m very disappointed this appears to be a short story. James Patterson calls these “hot shots†and thoroughly advertises as such. It claims to be 192 pages. It’s 159 pages and even submitting a part of “the good daughter†only takes it to 177 pages. I dislike being led to believe I have a full novel coming in the mail.
- So over the weekend I finished Last Breath by Karin Slaughter. I became a huge fan of hers earlier in the year. I started out with one series and then went into another. So when this book came out, I had to grab it! Her books are well-written and page turners!
So Last Breath is a prequel to her upcoming book The Good Daughter. I loved the main character Charlie. She is an attorney who finds herself locked into a situation by a sweet girl scout. The young lady, Flora, is in a tight situation that she needs help getting out of. Once Charlie begins to see what Flora is facing, she quickly dives in and helps this girl, free of charge.
Soon, Charlie is hit with evidence she can’t see her way through and is blind sighted. She finds herself in the middle of a drug operation that she has no choice but to see her way through. In the end she is shocked, hurt and betrayed.
This story is a short story so you can read it in one day. It prepares you for the standalone, The Good Daughter that is coming out next month. I advise you to jump on this page turner if you like quick reads. You won’t be disappointed.
I gave this one five stars. - I loved this book! And very glad the next book is with the same people! The first part of the book is with Charlie helping a teenage girl who wants to be emancipated. The last part is the opposite. It was kind of refreshing for a book not to end the way most do with the good guys as the "winners" . Can't wait for the next one to come out next month.
- I'm so thankful that the publishing date for the next Karin Slaughter book has been pushed up in date because, after reading Last Breath, I would not have been able to wait for it any longer.
Last Breath is just the next wonderful presentation of fiction from this best contemporary writer I have found in all my reading. From character development to story line, and beyond, Ms. Slaughter is the best across all genre. I can only hope that this review does her work justice as I am clearly not the talented one, and I've just pulled another all-night 'er reading this ebook and am still left a bit off center by the turns in the plot. I might not get any sleep tonight, but it's worth every hour I'm awake.
