Sweet Revenge Lynsay Sands Books Reviews

  • I almost didn't buy this book because of the one and two star reviews. They talked about how the heroine "sleeps or is unconscious through about 1/3 of this book" and is "always dizzy, fuzzy, feverish and near death." Both of those one star reviewers admit however that they skipped huge chunks of the book. If you read the other reviews, I doubt what I am about to say will give anything away in the story, but the heroine starts out the story suffering from a nearly fatal sword wound to the back. Of course she is feverish and unconscious at the beginning of the book. It would be completely unrealistic for her to be at death's door and then a couple days later be up and about without any problem. Even if she had suffered that wound today, with today's medical care, she wouldn't be up and about right away. However, unlike what one reviewer said, she was not sleeping or unconscious for 1/3 of the book. She is getting better and starting to be up at about 14% (kindle). Also, there is a lot going on with the other characters during that time, and she is not asleep continuously for that whole time either. If those one and two star reviewers had actually read the entire book, they would know that. If you like Lynsay Sands' other historical novels, you will probably enjoy this one also. It's not Shakespeare, but then it's not meant to be. It's a nice, light read. I also did not find it full of errors like one of the negative reviews mentioned. I have read almost all of her historicals and her MacNaughton stories that she and Hannah Howell wrote together. I didn't find this book to be as funny as some of her historicals, and the heroine is more intelligent, but I enjoyed it just as much as the others. I also wouldn't mind living in that Scottish castle either!
  • I love this author!! She's one of my favorites! Unfortunately, this book was a little disappointing. The main female character was incredibly annoying when she was awake...which apparently wasn't very often. Her character was constantly sleeping and/or passed out. Her role was NOT exciting or sexy at all. There was little to nothing enticing about her. That alone made it difficult to continue reading, but I did in the hopes it would get better. Sadly, it continued being pretty dull and actually confusing! In some chapters it was really difficult to understand what was going on because there was a lot happening at the same time with every single character chiming in. Then there were some parts that totally seemed cut off...like "some pages had been missing" kind of cut off. I was like what the heck!! How did it go from here to there all of a sudden!?! In my overall opinion I thought the book was kind of sloppy and disappointing.
  • I really like this writer and buy/pre-order her highlander books. This one was difficult to get through. First the heroine was passed out ill or with fever due to injuries. Then when she awoke everyone thought she was "daft". The she decided to play along. The book was more than 50% along before everyone seemed to realize that she wasn't crazy and she stopped acting crazy. *Sigh* I wanted to read a love story, but was really frustrated with all the misunderstandings the first half and then the girl was constantly in trouble the second half. I think there might have been real actual dialogue between the hero and heroine for about 10 pages in the entire book. Sheesh. It is well written and if you like the frustration of crazy misunderstandings and constant danger than this is your book. I think for me I'd rather just re-read one of her other highlander ones!
  • Lynsay Sands an extraordinary writer. She weaves her stories with magic and then remembers past loved characters. She is right up there with Johanna Lindsey and Julie Garwood when it comes to these type of formats. I will purchase them every time I find one. I discovered her last year and already have all her books. I have bought all hardback when I can. I love the large print ones the best as my library is extensive to these writers and my books are for keeps. Hard back books last longer. Thanks Ms. Sands. Exceptional. D'Nanna -

  • I do not think I've read a bad book by this author. Lots of comedy, romance, tension, action and adventure. The descriptions are visual and I enjoyed this book cover to cover. This book is very well written as usual from this author. Her sense of humor and ability to word any situation with much understanding puts her at the top of my list. I highly recommend her books and the author. She has written so many outstanding books.
  • I must confess, I read this book about a month ago, but it was so unmemorable that I had to re-read the description and a few reviews prior to recall the storyline. That being said, once I did recall the storyline, I have to say that Kyla ranks right up there with the heroine in Lady Pirate as one of my favorites. If you like sharp, sensible and independent heroines who are quite capable of taking care of themselves, then you'll definitely like her. Galen was your typical rough around the edges man with a secret heart of gold - they're a dime a dozen in most romance novels. Nonetheless, he plays his part well and helps create an entertaining read. Not my favorite Lynsay Sands book, but not terrible.
  • Lydsey Sands never disappoints! I love everything she writes. From her historicals to the para-normal. She cements all her stories with adventure and laughter, an unbeatable combination! Another rousing success!!!!! Thank you, Ms. Sands!!!
